New Years Resolutions

I have been thinking about the spiritual significance of the New Year. What aspects of the NY celebrations and traditions are relevent to the Christian and his/her walk.

One of the things that have occured to me is the whole idea of a NY resolution. When I say this certain things come to mind, such as the song, I am resolved no longer to linger, bound by the worlds delights. I think that, although any time is a good time to start fresh and begin working on developing new areas of our growth maybe this time of the year is of special significance in that regard. What areas of growth and understanding do you suffer in? What skills do you lack? In what aspect of your walk do you stumble? Maybe now is the time to change it. Of course, all things take time. But maybe now is the right time to begin anew, and start fresh. If Christ be in you, the old things are passed away, and behold all things are made new.

Maybe the area is in your prayer life, maybe you could be more disciplined, or consistant. Or maybe you could pray with more depth and range. Maybe you don't know how to pray, now is a good time to learn. Maybe it is in your knowledge of the Scripture, now is a good time to begin a plan to memorize the Word and understand doctrine better. Or maybe it is in Christian fellowship with other brothers and sisters, maybe there is an aspect of that that could be deepened or even begun. Or maybe, it is in your interactions with others that are not saved. Do you witness? Do you share what God has done with your life? Maybe it is time to be bold and courageous and share what God has done and is doing in your life.

Whatever it is, I think now is the time to trust God and submit to His plan for your ministry. There are so many possible moments of excitement out there for us to experience, why hold back, why not experience all that God intends for us to by submitting fully to His plan for us and allow Him to use us and get to know Him like He desires to be known by us.

Pray for us all in our walk with God. The most important walk of all! God Bless you all.

"why hold back, why not experience all that God intends for us..."

Because sometimes it seems easier to "get by" in life and fear tackles like a defensive lineman.

You're right though, now is the time. Delaying just wastes the time we have here.

stop the delay and start the relay; run, run, run to the finish.....at the finish,God says,'well done good and faithful servant' or will He say,'I never knew you'?
