"I love to tell the story"
It is a song, a hymn. Not a long song, only 3 verses. But in such a short piece, so much was said. When I was young, my father preached a sermon on this song. Of all the sermons that I listened to my father preach, this one impacted me probably the most. Why? Because it stuck in my mind for many years, and the message kept poking at my mind. Do I love to tell the story? My fathers sermon stuck pretty close to the song. 1 point for each verse.
I love to tell the story of unseen things above,
Of Jesus and His glory, of Jesus and His love;
I love to tell the story because i know tis true,
It satisfies my longings as nothing else can do.
Chorus:
I love to tell the story! Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.
I love to tell the story - tis pleasent to repeat.
What seems, each time I tell it, more wonderfully sweet;
I love to tell the story for some have never heard
The messege of salvation from God's own holy Word.
Chorus
I love to tell the story, for those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest;
And when in scenes of glory I sing the new, new song,
"Twill be the old, old story that I have loved so long.
I love to tell the story! Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.
(words by A. Catherine Hankey, music by William G. Fischer)
This song has stuck with me, always asking me, "Do you love to tell the story?
Is it pleasent to repeat? Does it sound sweeter each time you hear it? Do you hunger and thirst to hear it? Is it your theme in glory?
Now, I inspect myself. And I ask myself those questions, and for the first time I can honestly say, "Yes!" Not as much as I should, or would like, but Yes! I do, I didn't at first, but I do now. This change in my life and my heart is wonderfully encouraging. Who could know, the full impact of such a little sermon, preached on such a little song written a long time ago.

romans 1 : 16
1 corinthians 3 : 6-11
matthew 28 : 19-20
the story was told to me when i was 21yrs old and surprized, i was saved and changed!
now ,at 26yrs, i love to tell the story to others as God leads me and God will sprout the seeds where He pleases, as He has done in my life.
thank God, i would still be lost if this wounderful story was not brought to me.
