Why I Witness

I have often thought about the primary reason Christians want to share their faith. I suppose that different people think of different reasons. I could list a few that I have heard:


  • Christians are holier than thou and just want to lord it over you.
  • They like to brag about their "goodness"
  • Just want everyone to agree with them because they have to feel superior

none of these really make sense, but after a little thought I was able to nail down why I feel the need to witness.

  1. The Great Commission (Matt. 28:19-20)
  2. Love for my fellow man

# 1 seems to be self explanitory, so let me devote the rest of this post to # 2.

  • Love for my fellow man
    I feel an overwhelming love for other people. I sincerely believe that if you don't have a personnal relationship with Jesus Christ, you will spend eternity in hell. Regardless of whether I am wrong or right, I believe that to be true and if I believe that to be true, and I don't try to share Christ with others then I am condemning them to Hell by not doing anything at all. No one who truly loves someone else, would do that to anyone.

    Does that make sense?

    Enjoyed your comments..You are a good witness for the Lord..thats how I found you one day on the Chatroom. Talking about the Lord and oh how it was refreshing to see a 17 year old young man on fire for the Lord. Thanks for being my good Friend all these years and for keeping in touch with me. You have helped me down some rough roads at times and always have a smile to go along with your good words. I love you and thanks again for being a great friend and brother in the Lord...May God bless you richly is my prayer..
